The cast of the film version of Bruce Norris’ popular play Clybourne Park includes Sarah Paulson, Anthony Mackie, Martin Freeman, Uzo Aduba, Nick Robinson, and Hillary Baack.
According to Deadline, Pam MacKinnon will direct Bruce Norris’ adaptation of his explosive Pulitzer, Tony, and Olivier award-winning drama on racism and real estate in America. MacKinnon, who will make her feature film debut, premiered Norris’ Clybourne Park on Broadway in 2012, earning a Tony Award for Best Play and receiving a nod for Best Direction. Friend created Clybourne Park, which he and Kevin Loader produced. The film will be shot in the UK and on location in the United States this autumn. As a sort of sequel to Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin In The Sun, the play alternates between mirrored incidents in the same Chicago neighbourhood in 1959 and 50 years later in 2009.
According to the source, Norris’ play is set in “Clybourne Park, a sleepy,’status quo’ Chicago neighbourhood that comes to life when a group of ‘well-meaning’ neighbours attend a gathering to voice their concerns—dripping with civility, seeming tolerance, and penetrating innuendo.” A ferocious discussion about property borders and community turns into all-out war.”
