In the twilight years of the Tang Dynasty, Zhou Wen forced Emperor Ai to abdicate and founded the later Liang Dynasty. He rescued a boy from the wilderness who had fallen off a cliff while on a quest to rescue young wolves, and took him under his wing. The boy was given the name Zhu Youwen and the title of Prince of Po. A decade later, Zhu Youwen met and fell in love with Ma Zhaixing, the ruler’s daughter.
